1971 Renken 17’ tri hull PROJECT BOAT - $950

length overall (LOA): 17
make / manufacturer: Renken
model name / number: tri-hull
propulsion type: power
year manufactured: 1971

This is a project boat, however, very close to completion.
Lot’s of work, money and time has been put into this boat. I simply do not have any more time for this project, therefore, my loss = your gain.

I bought this boat last year from the original owner. The boat sat under a tree for about 20 years, and I decided to restore it.
Here is the list of what has been done:

Boat: It is a 17 ft, tri-hull fiberglass boat. There was never any damage to the hull, and there were no repairs on the hull. Very good condition.
What I did so far:
- completely gutted
- sanded down, and painted with marine grade paint!
- new floor (water protected plywood) with new carpeting
- new registration stickers and numbers
- installed small control dashboard
- new upholstery - side boards, front boards, seating boards (all done with marine vinyl)
- new foldable seat
What needs to be done:
- IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSOM - this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I even started re-doing it, but gave up. You can see from the pictures that I got 1/2 of it out. If you know how to work with resin and fiberglass patches, and know how to cut a piece of plywood, then you can fix it for cheap. If you want this professionally done, i got quoted for around $1k
- you will also need to buy a new steering cable and connect it.

Motor: 1985 Mercury 80HP 2 stroke (this is mercury 800) I was told by the owner that motor ran perfect last time it was on the water (granted that was probably over 20 years ago). Motor is not seized. It cranks fine.
What I did so far:
- Complete new wiring harness (you can se on the pics)
- brand new starter
- brand new water pump (impeller)
- both shift and throttle BRAND NEW CABLES
- It comes with mercontrol (remote control box) but the electrical wires might need to be replaced, or just get a used whole unit
What needs to be done:
- probably clean carburetors and it should start
- connect the throttle and shift cables

Trailer: single axis.
What I did so far:
- Brand new safety chains
- Completely redone wiring with new back and side lights
What needs to be done:
- it could use a coat of fresh paint.

- fuel tank (with about 5 gallons of 1:50 mix in it)
- brand new fuel line and pump
- brand new drain plug
- brand new transom D loops for securing the boat to the trailer
- anchor
- motor stand on wheels
- probably something else I forgot

NOW, with all that said (written), I am asking $950 for everything: boat, motor, trailer. It is needless to say that this is way less than what I already spent (if you add the costs of all new parts I listed, you’ll see that) and not counting countless hours I spent on this boat.

PLEASE, no lowball offers. I will entertain the best offer, but will not be entertained by ridiculous offers.
