Offered here is this beautiful 1979 Mercedes 300cd two door sports coupe. This one is in excellent condition with 203,000 original miles and is painted in the ultra rare English Red (like burnt orange). The paint color is original to the car. The engine is a 5 cylinder non-turbo diesel motor (also kinda rare) with a four speed automatic transmission. It’s got the original interior in biscuit and it’s in amazing condition as shown in our pictures. A bit of the wood veneer needs attention but not much. The headliner is also great. The might be one of the nicest interiors from this era I’ve ever seen. The seats could use new padding but they’re perfectly functional and in amazing condition.
This car runs and drives great. The brakes and suspension feel tight and it’s got all brand new tires and redone wheels (bead blasted and powder coated). All the paint and body work was done and the car looks amazing. This is not a show car. I restored it as a fun to drive and economical commuter car. It handles and stops like a sports car but isn’t quick enough to get you in trouble. Mileage on a non turbo diesel is 28-32 mpg. I’ve gotten ever more than that!
The car could use window seals but they don’t leak so I didn’t replace them. I did put a coat of silicone over them to prevent further deterioration.
All the windows work, I put all new Mercedes switches in. Heat works great, a/c needs charging. This car has a rare accessory cooling system powered element and circulation motor. You can plug it in and it will heat the water in the radiator and through the system. Very cool and very unusual!
The radio is a very nice old school Alpine stereo am/fm radio and tape deck. It works and sounds great.
The transmission works fine but could use an adjustment in the vacuum setting. Between 1st and 2nd you have to back off the throttle to get it to shift. The kick down works fine and it’s smooth otherwise.
This is a nice car and I’ve put a lot of money in mechanics, paint, body and wheels.
I have we’ll over $7,000 invested so I’m not interested in ridiculous offers, crazy trades or payment plans.

Please call me directly or text me if your in the DMV. I will not respond to scams, offers to help sell or any other game playing. I’m putting this car on for a week at this price and then it goes to eBay. If I don’t get a decent price on it I’ll drive it.

So please give me a call if your legitimately interested. The car is in Hagerstown, Md. in a warehouse. Your more than welcome to come look or test drive it. By the way, very few 300-CD’s were ever this English Red color. It’s got the wow factor for sure!
