The Sennheiser HD800 set the bar for all the others that followed. Yet this one remains one of my favorite for clear accurate sound reproduction. Picks up every instrument with a big sound stage and clarity that you can actually hear the pencil drop from a musician easel. (Berlin Philharmonic Claudio Abbado / symphony No.7 in A opus 92:2.) Some people may not like that but nothing comes closer to being on stage with the orchestra.

I am including the Grace DAC to decode and reproduce the analog signal with zero distortion along with a DarkVoice tube amplifier to drive the head cans with plenty of power. DarkVoice essentially removes all background noise to allow the pure unimpeded sound of the music to come through. When you turn off the DAC and leave the volume on the amp at the normal listening level, absolutely no sound can be heard. no clicks, or hiss, or low frequency hum can be heard. You will also notice that the Sennheiser is so conformable and open sound stage eliminates any listening fatigue for hours of uninterrupted listening pleasure.
