Dandelion Energy is hiring a Master Mechanic to take care of our heavy diesel fleet out of Columbia, MD. No flat-rate pressure, no dealer politics, no one brand to get bored with — you'll be turning wrenches on Atlas Copco air compressors, CAT / John Deere / Deutz diesel engines, drill rigs, and Bobcat skidsteers and excavators. If you're a dealer tech who's tired of flat rate, or a fleet mechanic looking for variety and a better shop, this is worth a look.
What you'd be doing:
Diagnosing and fixing diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems on heavy equipment
Running PMs and keeping the fleet on the road (and on the job)
Working from schematics, shop manuals, and diagnostic tools
Ordering parts, logging work in Fleetio / Samsara (we'll train if you're new to them)
Keeping a clean, safe shop and getting operators back to work quickly
Who we're looking for:
Trade school diploma or equivalent technical certification
Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic
Strong on air compressors, CAT, John Deere, and Deutz
Comfortable with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Can lift 50 lbs overhead and handle sustained work in all weather
Valid driver's license, clean record, personal vehicle, and willing to travel to job sites within ~75 miles of Columbia
Nice to have (not required):
CDL A
Drilling rig experience
Torch and welding skills
Comfort with iPads / laptops / fleet software
Why work here:
Hourly pay (non-exempt) — real hours, overtime, no flat rate
Full benefits — medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO
Variety — you'll see more different equipment in a month than most dealer techs see in a year
Growing company, stable work — we're the nation's leading residential geothermal company and we're expanding
Good shop, good crew — blue-collar, drama-free, no corporate runaround
About us:
Dandelion Energy installs geothermal heating and cooling systems for homes — cleaner, quieter, and up to 4x more efficient than traditional HVAC. Our field ops team drills the ground loops and installs the systems. Your job is to keep that fleet running so the crews can keep working.
